Former Brigadier General Janis Karpinski was interviewed about her memoir One Woman’s Army: The Commanding General of Abu Ghraib Tells Her Story, published by Miramax Books. In the book, co-written with Steven Strasser, she talks about her quarter century in the United States Army before being put in command of the soldiers in charge of the incarceration of Iraqi detainees and, after his capture, Saddam Hussein. She explained her version of how soldiers under her command abused Iraqi detainees. The former commander of the Military Police Brigade in Iraq also retold the events that led to an internal Army investigation, and her demotion to the rank of Colonel. She was interviewed by retired Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor.
