A portion of a news conference President Ford held at Rundlett Junior High School in Durham, New Hampshire, about two weeks before the New Hampshire 1976 presidential primary in which then President Ford defeated Ronald Reagan 49 to 48 percent. He responded to questions and comments from New Hampshire reporters. Among the issues he addressed were nuclear power, abortion, nondenominational prayer in public schools, student financial assistance, tax reform, the presidential campaign, and possible candidates for vice president.
