Thomas Goodrich spoke about his book The Darkest Dawn: Lincoln, Booth, And The Great American Tragedy, published by Indiana University Press. In a lecture and slide show, Mr. Goodrich was joined by his wife Debra in illustrating stories about the aftermath of the 1865 assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. Some dead bodies were included. The authors discovered numerous accounts of killings and mob violence directed at those who did not support president Lincoln and some who overtly celebrated his death. They also discussed John Wilkes Booth, his co-conspirators, and the reasons for studying history.
