The Lincoln Forum symposium meets annually near the November 19th anniversary of the Gettysburg address to hear from authors and scholars on the 16th president. The most recent meeting was devoted to studying the assassination of President Lincoln.

Lincoln Forum Chair Frank Williams and Edwards Steers, a member of the advisory committee for the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission, were speakers at the Lincoln Forum. After their recorded presentations were shown they discussed the assassination and trial. State Supreme Court Justice Williams is a member of the Defense Department’s Military Commission Review Panel established to review the proceedings against those detained in efforts to combat terrorism. He discussed the history of military tribunals and compared them to current tribunals. They responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.
