President Bush spoke at a program honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. titled “Let Freedom Ring,” which was held in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. He spoke about the work of the civil rights leader and the late Ms. Rosa Parks, who was honored with the John Thompson Jr. Legacy of the Dream Award.

The program included gospel music from the Let Freedom Ring Celebration Choir, which includes members of the Metropolitan Music Ministry of the Metropolitan Baptist Church, the Capitol Hill Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and Georgetown University students. Georgetown University student Neal Fisher, Jr. joined the program as the first-ever recipient of the Legacy of a Dream Scholarship, sponsored by Target. close
