New Jersey Supreme Court Chief Justice Deborah Poritz administered the oath of office before a joint session of the New Jersey Legislature. Afterwards, he spoke about ending the state government’s reputation for corruption.
The program included a 19-gun salute. Carl Riccio, a high school wrestler who suffered a severe spinal cord injury in 2003 and was featured in a campaign commercial advocating stem cell research, recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Cynthia Alicea sang the national anthem.
