House Republican leaders spoke to reporters about lobbying reform efforts and their agenda for the upcoming session of Congress. Their ethics rules proposals included a stronger ban on gifts, a limit on private travel, restrictions on moving to K Street, removal of pension benefits for members of Congress convicted of a work-related felony. The proposal would not ban all gifts, including acceptances of gifts including “a baseball cap or a T-shirt from the proud students of a local middle school.” Following their remarks, the representatives responded to questions and comments from the reporters. close
