Timothy Egan talked about his book The Worst Hard Time: The Untold Story of Those Who Survived the Great American Dust Bowl, published by Houghton Mifflin. In the 1930s parts of America experienced blinding dust storms - millions of tons of dirt blowing across the vast expanses of flat land. In his book the author chronicled the sacrifices made by families living in the Dust Bowl. Nearly 250,000 people were displaced in Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado by the suffocating dust storms that ravaged nearly one hundred million acres of America’s Great Plains. Following his remarks he answered questions from the audience. close
