Behzad Yaghmaian talked about his book Embracing the Infidel: Stories of Muslim Migrants on the Journey West, published by Delacorte Press. The book is about the experiences of Muslim migrants from the Middle East, Asia, and North Africa who have traveled, or have attempted to travel, to Western countries in search of a better life. Professor Yaghmaian said that when these migrants, who have fled their countries of origin for largely political reasons, are commonly treated as criminals when they arrive in their destination countries. Following his remarks, Professor Yaghmaian responded to questions and comments from members of the audience about topics including the recent upheaval in France. close
