A panel discussion was held on the effect the election of Stephen Harper as Canadian Prime Minister may have on relationships between the United States and Canada. The panelists discussed hopes that Harper would follow through on promises to increase Canada’s defense spending and intelligence capabilities. Mr. Frum criticized the Liberal campaign tactics and said, “Anti-Americanism is the fool’s gold of Canadian politics.” The panelists also discussed the dispute over softwood trade. Following their discussion, the panelists responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. The panel was moderated by Mr. Noriega. close
