Canadian Prime Minister-designate Stephen Harper held a news conference in the foyer of the House of Commons. It was his first news conference since his Conservative Party won the Parliamentary election on Monday, January 23, 2006. He and his cabinet were scheduled to be sworn in on February 6th. Mr. Harper answered questions on the Palestinian elections, the resignation of Canada’s ambassador to Washington, and national defense.
