A panel discussion was held on Wal-Mart and employer health care coverage. The Maryland Assembly recently passed a bill called the “Fair Share Health Care Bill.” It requires state employers with over 10,000 employees to spend at least 8 percent on health care benefits. Wal-Mart is the only state employer affected by the legislation. A video presentation was shown of interviews, including a factory worker in China and an employee who received a gunshot wound from an attacker in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Following the discussion, the panelists responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
