As part of a C-SPAN and Cox Communications project to encourage dialog between students and national leaders, Mayor Jerry Sanders spoke to high school students about his public service career. He served in the San Diego Police Department for 26 years, ending as the chief of police. He then led the local United Way and Red Cross Chapter as well as working in the private sector. Following his remarks, Mayor Sanders responded to questions and comments from the students. Then, he received a baseball cap and sweatshirt from Principal Williams.
