Secretary Mineta and other officials spoke to reporters about spending requests for new transit projects. The Transportation Department’s request included $1.5 billion for various new and existing programs to eliminate congestion, redirect commuter traffic, and improve the transportation infrastructure for commerce. Following his remarks a panel of the officials explained the funding requests and answered questions from the audience. close
