John Prevas talked about his book Envy Of The Gods: Alexander the Great’s Ill-Fated Journey Across Asia, published by Da Capo Press. The author argued that Alexander the Great was not as glamorous as he is often characterized in popular history and film, saying that Alexander was constantly expanding his empire as a result of his own megalomaniacal impulses. Mr. Prevas spent several months retracing Alexander’s march across what is now Iran on his way to expanding the Persian Empire. The author also talked about what he sees as the problem of Hollywood changing historical facts in order to market a movie. After his presentation he answered audience members' questions. close
