The Senate Foreign Relations Committee held a hearing on the Fiscal Year 2007 State Department budget. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice testified about a number of funding requests including increases of $75 million for emergency funding to step up pressure on the Iranian government, expanding radio and television broadcasts into Iran and promoting internal opposition to the rule of religious leaders. She also answered several questions on progress made by Iraqi authorities in building a secure government. close
