Anthony Arthur talked about Upton Sinclair’s book The Jungle as a literary work. Upton Sinclair first published his novel The Jungle in 1905. It is about a young immigrant and his experience working in a slaughterhouse in Chicago. Professor Arthur discussed the impact this book and other works by Upton Sinclair had on American culture. He responded to questions from members of the audience.

Professor Arthur’s forthcoming book Radical Innocent: Upton Sinclair, to be published by Random House, will reappraise the life and work of Upton Sinclair. close
