Rep. Fossella participated by video connection from Davie, Florida about his opposition to management of U.S. seaport operations by an Arab-owned company. The previous day he called on the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to explore legal options to get out of the arrangement, including voiding the contract. He has called for congressional review of the proposed sale of some terminals at six U.S. seaports, saying that with all the steps the U.S. is taking to secure U.S. territory, it is a step backward to cede management of the ports to a nation with “a spotty record on terrorism.” He also responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. close
