David Traxel talked about his book Crusader Nation: The United States in Peace and the Great War, 1898-1920, published by Knopf. The book examines two decades of the Progressive Era at the turn of the 19th century in which Americans of every class and description were eager to make societal reforms on a variety of levels - cultural, political, and societal. In it, Mr. Traxel detailed the ways in which various groups struggled to cast aside Victorian restraint, strive for economic reform, and expand their global empire. close
