Neil Dahlstrom talked about the book he co-wrote with Jeffrey Manber, Lincoln’s Wrath: Fierce Mobs, Brilliant Scoundrels and a President’s Mission to Destroy the Press, published by Sourcebooks. He recounted the story of journalist John Hodgson, whose property, including his newspaper called the Jeffersonian, was seized under the order of President Lincoln. The author explained that Mr. Hodgson’s newspaper supported states' rights and white supremacy and was highly critical of the Lincoln administration. Neil Dahlstrom detailed John Hodgson’s day in court in 1863 when he successfully recovered over $500 in damages from the government. After his presentation Mr. Dahlstrom answered audience members' questions. close
