Kristin Henderson talked about her book While They’re at War: The True Story of American Families on the Homefront, published by Houghton Mifflin. In her book she detailed both the official and unofficial support systems developed for families to cope with the deployment of a loved one. Ms. Henderson, the wife of a Navy chaplain, is active in the Marine Corps’s Key Volunteer family readiness program. She was joined by Kathy Moakler and Major Michael Zacchea to discuss how families deal with the hardships of military life. After their remarks they answered audience members' questions. close
