Matthew Bogdanos was interviewed about the book he wrote with William Patrick, Thieves of Baghdad: One Marine’s Passion for Ancient Civilizations and the Journey to Recover the World’s Greatest Stolen Treasures, published by Bloomsbury USA. Colonel Bogdanos described his journey collecting the antiquities stolen by looters from the Baghdad Museum during the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. He also explained why more U.S. troops were not allowed to guard the museum during the initial days of post-war looting. Mr. Bogdanos is now an assistant district attorney in Manhattan.

He was interviewed by Angela M.H. Schuster, the editor of Icon, a magazine on preservation published by the World Monuments Fund, and co-editor of The Looting of the Iraq Museum, Baghdad: The Lost Legacy of Ancient Mesopotamia, published by Harry N. Abrams. close
