A portion of the day’s trial of Saddam Hussein was shown. The former Iraqi president said he was within his rights when he signed orders which led to the trial of Shiites accused of a failed assassination attempt against him. They were later executed. Hussein is charged with crimes against humanity. If convicted he could face death by hanging. This was Saddam Hussein’s second appearance in court during the week. The trial, which began in October 2005, was adjourned until Sunday, March 12, 2006.
