Telephone lines were open for comments on news of the day.

Ms. Levine talked by telephone about The Texas primary fight in District 22, where former Majority Leader Tom DeLay has three Republican opponents for his House seat. A January poll by the Houston Chronicle showed Rep. DeLay’s support was 22%, but Republican strategist Allen Blakemore predicted Mr. DeLay would get at least 60 percent of the vote. The Democrat in District 22 is former Rep. Nick Lampson, who was ousted from his former House seat (in District 9) under the redistricting plan engineered by Rep. DeLay. close
