On Friday, March 10, 2006, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) spoke at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in Memphis, Tenn.

On Saturday, March 11, 2006, Chuck Todd, editor in chief of The Hotline, reported to C-SPAN’s Washington Journal by telephone from Memphis, Tennessee where he had been covering the Southern Republican Leadership Conference. He reported on the straw poll of support for possible Republican presidential candidates that The Hotline conducted.

On Saturday, March 11, 2006, Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) spoke at a joint fundraising dinner for the Democratic parties of Hillsborough County and the City of Nashua. The event took place at the Nashua Country Club in Nashua, New Hampshire. Scenes were shown of Sen. Kerry mingling with the crowd after his speech that were not included in the live broadcast of the event. New Hampshire is expected to hold the nation’s first presidential primary in 2008. Sen. Kerry won the 2004 New Hampshire primary on his way to becoming the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee. close
