Lady Mary Soames, daughter of Sir Winston Churchill, was interviewed on stage by Professor Jefferson at a student forum at Westminster College. The occasion was a rededication of the Winston Churchill Memorial Museum and Library during a celebration of the 60th anniversary of Sir Winston Churchill’s “Iron Curtain” speech. On March 5, 1946, Sir Winston Churchill gave a Green Lecture Series speech at Westminster College, called the “Sinews of Peace,” that became known for several phrases, but most famously for the term “iron curtain.” Lady Soames spoke about her father’s legacy, lessons to be learned from this speech and his other writings, and answered questions from Westminster College students. close
