The Big Empty
Norman Mailer and his son, John Buffalo Mailer, talked about their book The Big Empty: Dialogues on Politics, Sex, God, Boxing, Morality, Myth, Poker and Bad Conscience in America, published by Nation Books. The book is an intergenerational exchange of ideas between the two over issues including the Bush administration, the September 11 attacks, Iraq, fascism, and popular culture. During this event, the Mailers discussed the power of corporations in America, the Bush administration and its war on terrorism, and the role of Christianity in our society. The conversation was moderated by author Dotson Rader with the Mailers answering audience members' questions. close
