Mr. Preston talked about the history of religious influences on American foreign relations. He said that despite the separation of church and state, churches were interested in political issues as well as international relations. Professor Appleby spoke separately about the history of fundamentalism and its effect on foreign policy. After their speeches both men responded to audience members' questions with Mr. Phaup moderating.

The 21st annual Camden Conference, “Religion as a Force in World Affairs,” was held in the Opera House in downtown Camden, Maine. close
