Carol Yost talks about strategies to prevent human trafficking of women and girls in Asia.

She described the work of the Asia Foundation in south, southeast, and east Asia, including Afghanistan, Mongolia, Korea, and the Pacific Islands, through encouraging governments to protect the rights of all citizens regardless of sex, class and religion. Other topics included democratic principles, rule of law, human rights, transition to market economies, development of nongovernmental organizations, women’s empowerment. She talked about training police in brothel rescues, warning citizens of false advertising to lure victims from their homes, and the development of community-based networks against trafficking. After her presentation she answered audience members' questions. close
