Derek Leebaert talked about his book To Dare and to Conquer: Special Operations and the Destiny of Nations, from Achilles to Al Qaeda, published by Little, Brown. He talked about the use of commandos in wars throughout history. Mr. Leebaert argued that these special operation forces have played decisive roles in wars going back to the time of Achilles. He provided a profile of the people who make up the ranks of modern special operation forces and talked about the ones that are currently in Afghanistan. After his presentation he answered questions from members of the audience. close
