As part of a forum titled, “Professional Issues in National Security,” the panelists discussed national security, censorship, and the First Amendment. Topics included leaks to the press, freedom of the press in times of war, freedom of speech in the United Kingdom, reclassifying documents, and Supreme Court rulings such as the Pentagon Papers case. They answered audience members' questions.

Ms. Spaulding delivered the luncheon keynote address. Topics included the intelligence community, intelligence budgeting and transparency, and communication between agencies. She also answered audience members' questions. Ms. Spaulding was a former minority staff director for the House Permanent Committee on Intelligence. close
