Conservative organizations held a press conference at the Capitol to call on Congress to remove “pork” and excess spending form the supplemental appropriations. One of the projects that they were protesting was moving a Gulf Coast rail line that had just been repaired after hurricane damage at a cost of $250 million. They also criticized the attachment of such spending proposals to hurricane relief and military supplemental spending measures. Following their remarks they answered questions from reporters. close
