Rick Wartzman talked about the book he co-authored, The King of California: J.G. Boswell and the Making of a Secret American Empire, published by PublicAffairs. In the book the authors recount the story of the Boswell family. The Boswells moved from Georgia to California in the 1920s, and subsequently started a little-known cotton farm that today covers 200,000 acres and is America’s largest single-farm producer of wheat, safflower, and seed alfalfa. close
