Ambassador Bolton testified about United Nations reform efforts and other issues involving the U.N. He talked about international sanctions as a viable diplomatic tool, the impact of the Oil-For-Food scandals at the U.N., and on-going efforts to properly censure Iran for defying nuclear inspections of energy and possible weapons development programs. He also said during the hearing that the U.S. might consider imposing sanctions on Iran without U.N. approval in the Security Council if countries such as Russia and China did not agree with the U.S. position. There were several contentious exchanges between Mr. Bolton and committee members during questioning. close
