Margaret Wagner and Gary Gallagher talked about the book The American Civil War: 365 Days. Written by Ms. Wagner, with an introduction by Civil War historian Gary Gallagher, the book was published by the Library’s Publishing Office, in association with Harry N. Abrams Inc. The book includes photographs, lithographs, battlefield drawings, music covers and political cartoons that the author said heavily influenced public opinion of the war. They responded to questions from members of the audience.

The event was part of the Books and Beyond author series sponsored by the Center for the Book at the Library of Congress. The program was co-sponsored by the Library’s Publishing Office and held in the Montpelier Room on the sixth floor of the James Madison Building. close
