Faith and Politics in the U.S. and the World

As part of the PEN/New York Festival of International Literature, moderated by Robert Silvers, authors discussed the impact of religion on politics in a variety of countries around the world, and in the U.S. After their presentations the panelists answered audience members' questions.

Hans Magnus Enzensberger is the author of Lighter Than Air: Moral Poems and Zig-Zag: The Politics of Culture and Vice Versa. Alma Guillermoprieto is a frequent contributor to the New York Review of Books and the New Yorker. Her latest book is Dancing With Cuba: A Memoir of the Revolution. Moses Isegawa was born in northern Uganda, the backdrop for his novels Abyssinian Chronicles and Snakepit. Elias Khoury is the author of Gates of the Sun.
