As part of the PEN/New York Festival of International Literature, moderated by Robert Silvers, authors discussed the impact of religion on politics in a variety of countries around the world, and in the U.S. After their presentations the panelists answered audience members' questions.

Hans Magnus Enzensberger is the author of Lighter Than Air: Moral Poems and Zig-Zag: The Politics of Culture and Vice Versa. Alma Guillermoprieto is a frequent contributor to the New York Review of Books and the New Yorker. Her latest book is Dancing With Cuba: A Memoir of the Revolution. Moses Isegawa was born in northern Uganda, the backdrop for his novels Abyssinian Chronicles and Snakepit. Elias Khoury is the author of Gates of the Sun. Adam Michnik is the author of The Church and the Left. close
