President Bush addressed the nation from the Oval Office in prime-time about immigration reform. He said that the U.S. was not in control of its borders and urged Congress to pass legislation that would find “a rational middle ground” on immigration that included providing millions of illegal workers a new route to citizenship. He also pledged to deploy 6,000 National Guard forces in support of border patrol agents along the U.S.-Mexico border. close
