Robert Baer, a former CIA agent, talked about his novel, events leading up to the September 11 attacks on the U.S., current U.S. intelligence, Iran’s nuclear program, and how Iran had benefited from the U.S. war with Iraq. He also responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.

Mr. Baer is the author of a political novel, Blow the House Down, published by Crown. The book tells the story of a CIA officer who was fired from his job in 2001 and decides to begin a personal investigation into Osama bin Laden and the September 11 terrorist attacks. Robert Baer served as a CIA case officer in the Directorate of Operations from 1976 to 1997. He is also the author of a memoir See No Evil: The True Story of a Ground Soldier in the CIA’s War on Terrorism. The American intelligence officer who is a central character in the film Syriana was modeled after Mr. Baer. close
