The Senate resumed consideration of S. 2766, the Defense Authorization bill and voted on two amendments calling for different plans to withdraw troops from Iraq. An amendment offered by Senator Kerry, to complete withdrawal by July 1, 2007 failed by a vote of 13 to 86. An amendment offered by Senator Levin, to commence withdrawal efforts within the year failed by a vote of 39-60.
