President Bush arrived in Air Force One at Ft. Bragg (NC) Special Forces Command. Before his speech he talked individually with military personnel, toured the area, and inspected equipment. Later as part of an Independence Day Celebration in Iron Mike Plaza at Fort Bragg the president spoke to the troops from a dais. He praised their courage and service to the U.S. and talked about the price of freedom, the struggle for freedom in Iraq, and that troops would not be withdrawn from Iraq prematurely. He also harkened back to the September 11 attacks, saying that global terrorism is still a tremendous danger. He talked about individual soldiers he had met who were wounded in Iraq, and about groups of volunteers who work to support troop morale.

He was introduced by Lieutenant General John Vines. close
