President Bush and Prime Minister Al-Maliki spoke to reporters about the state of security in Baghdad and other parts of Iraq, Iraqi government operations, and U.S. military presence in the country. President Bush announced that an increased U.S. military presence was needed to improve security in the country and diminish rising sectarian violence.
