Marking the 61st anniversary of the nuclear bombing of Nagasaki, panelists talked about the consequences of U.S. nuclear weapons policy from Hiroshima to Iran. Among the issues they addressed were the safety and security of international nuclear stockpiles, the U.S. policy of preemptive attack, and on-going tensions over weapons development in countries such as Iran. After their discussion the panelists responded to questions from members of the audience.

Shotaro Kodama was a survivor from Hiroshima and Kazuhiro Yoshimura was a survivor from Nagasaki who talked about their personal experiences. The presentation included a brief clip from the ABC TV movie “The Day After” (1983). close
