British officials spoke to reporters about arrests made in a terrorist plan to use explosives on Transatlantic flights between Britain and the U.S. that had been disrupted by British authorities earlier in the day. The British law enforcement efforts had resulted in the arrest of 21 suspects and had implemented tight security measures at British airports.
