W. Ralph Basham, the new commissioner for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, talked about managing, controlling and securing borders, as well as allowing the legitimate international trade that is very lucrative for the U.S. He also described his observations during his two-week tour of the U.S.-Mexican border earlier in the summer. He commented on the congressional field hearings held over the summer on immigration and border security and the actions he would like Congress to take for U.S. Customs and Border Protection in the future. He responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. close
