Officials of the NAACP announced the findings of the Internal Revenue Service investigation into the NAACP’s tax-exempt status. The IRS had been investigating if actions and statements made at the NAACP national convention in 2004 violated the restrictions on political activity, but had found no violations of the tax code and had ruled that the speech did not violate restrictions on political fundraising.
