John Allen talked about his book Rabble-Rouser for Peace: The Authorized Biography of Desmond Tutu, published by Free Press. He was joined in conversation by Archbishop Desmond Tutu in his only appearance on a trip to New York. The men detailed Archbishop Tutu’s role in the South African apartheid resistance, including the effect of his controversial call for international disinvestment in the apartheid economy and the challenges he faced while leading peaceful demonstrations throughout the country.
