Niall Ferguson talked about his book, The War of the World: Twentieth-Century Conflict and the Descent of the West, published by Penguin Press. He described the conflicts from World War I to the Cold War and how they influenced the twentieth century. He argued that globalization, wealth, and technological breakthroughs have created violence, genocide and fanaticism in our societies. He used history, economics and evolutionary theory in concluding that Western dominance would decline. After his presentation he responded to audience members' questions. close
