Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert spoke to the press outside of his office in Illinois about an investigation into the conduct of House members and staff surrounding former Representative Foley’s resignation for improper electronic communications with a congressional page. He told reporters that he took responsibility for the scandal, but that he had done nothing wrong, and expected to win re-election in his district before returning to Washington where he would again run for speaker. He also answered questions from the reporters. close
