After introductory remarks by Steve Anderson and Tim Hammonds at the Food Safety Supply Chain Conference, a panel of government officials discussed the development and enforcement of food safety policies and regulations that are the responsibility of several U.S. agencies. Topics included recent carrot juice and spinach contamination issues, the food safety chain, research and detection of organisms, shelf life of foods, fish and shellfish safety, and food irradiation. After their presentations the panelists responded to audience members' questions. close
