Ohio Democratic Campaign Event

Rep. John Murtha spoke at a campaign rally for Democratic congressional candidate Victoria Wulsin at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Hall. Dr. Wulsin, an epidemiologist, is challenging Republican incumbent Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-OH).

Rep. Murtha, a former Marine and decorated Vietnam veteran, has criticized the Bush administration’s conduct of the war in Iraq and has called for a redeployment of U.S. troops outside of that country. Wulsin’s opponent Rep. Schmidt was booed off the House floor by Democrats last November after she said in reference to Rep. Murtha’s stance on Iraq that, “Cowards cut and run, Marines never do.” She later apologized for her remarks. close
